La FXCM e 36.928 la cumparare acum. Am cumparat 1000 (marimea minima) ca sa confirm ca e tranzactionabil. Am pus un SL/TP aproape, ca nu ma intereseaza, nu-s in the know pe valuta asta, si am trait prea multe ca sa ma mai arunc la ce e evident fara alte informatii (razboi, deci EUR/USD jos si USD/RUB sus)

40-ul ala probabil e la ghiseu, deci nu mult diferit de situatia de la noi.

Western leaders are stunned because they haven’t realized Russia’s owners no longer respect Europeans the way they once did after the Cold War. Russia thinks the West is no longer a crusading alliance. Russia thinks the West is now all about the money.

Mda, legat de short-ul ala, se pare ca banca centrala ruseasca nu sta cu mainile in san.

Russia’s central bank raised interest rates on Monday morning in an attempt to counter inflation and financial instability after the rouble tumbled and Russian equities lost a tenth of their value.

By mid-morning on Monday in Moscow the rouble had bounced back to Rbs36.35, with traders saying that the central bank had been intervening in the market to halt the fall.

Russian central bank sells USD10 bln of reserves to defend rouble

And that’s just this morning, Reuters are reporting from Moscow interbank sources

Don’t forget that the intervention can also mean EUR selling as the rouble is in a USD-EUR basket as far as their target corridor is concerned.

Exact. Ce am obs si eu. Cand ceva e 100% sigur (devalorizarea USDRUB), de fapt nu e chiar asa. Two way volatility as they say. O analiza interesanta de aseara, de inainte de interventie:

However, investors have largely already positioned for downside in Russia, for reasons unrelated to the latest headlines out of Ukraine.

Indeed, according to Bartosz Pawlowski, global head of emerging markets strategy at BNP Paribas, shorting the ruble has become one of the most popular trades since late January, when market participants realized seasonality effects — normally supportive of the ruble early in the year — were unlikely to give it much support in 2014.

"The ruble has been selling off for months now, regardless of the situation in Ukraine," says Pawlowski.

"Granted, the events there have accelerated the process, but nothing more."

...

"Unlike in recent months, the likely weakening of the ruble in the coming days will be met with a more forceful reaction from the Central Bank of Russia — I am expecting bigger interventions and possibly market rates spiking due to liquidity drainage," he says.

...

Finally the relatively less liquid markets, like Romania local debt/FX and external debt in Georgia or Belarus, are likely to initially hold in, but risk sudden weakness if matters escalate.

A Russian move to absorb Crimea against the will of Ukraine would mark the first time since World War II that such a maneuver had been attempted in Europe.
